Sophie Nobler is a writer and director. Her work explores the relationship between childhood and motherhood; the tensions between love, responsibility, and guilt. 

 

She began onstage in New York at Ensemble Studio Theater and New York City Players, learning from playwrights Richard Maxwell and Jackie Sibbles Dreary. After studying at the Prague Film School, she started working in film production managing archives at Moxie Firecracker Films and other award winning docs like Obit and Lioness. In Los Angeles she went on to  direct, write, and produce indie films. She produced and starred in the Web-Series HANDY and the WhoHaha premiered proof of concept Woman In The Wall.

She wrote and directed the short PESTLE, which her the Best First Time Director award at the Berlin Indie Film Festival and the Best Short Form Short Film at the Female Feedback Film Festival (FFF). Sophie recently moved to Berlin to complete her MA in Directing at MetFilm School.
